Canada Post suspends services for federal and provincial statutory holidays. In 2010, regular collection or delivery of mail is not available during holiday closures which amount to thirteen days in total. Following are the dates of Canada Post postal outlet closures for the year. Nevertheless, privately operated postal outlets, like those operated at drug stores for instance, may have different holiday schedules. Check with the local outlet for dates of operation.

Here are the federal, provincial and territorial holiday dates for which Canada Post will be closed in 2010.
- January 1: New Year’s Day
- April 2, 5: Good Friday and Easter
- May 24: Victoria Day
- June 24: Quebec’s National Holiday (Quebec only)
- July 1: Canada Day
- August 2: Statutory holiday (except for Quebec and Yukon)
- August 16: Discovery Day (Yukon only)
- September 6: Labour Day
- October 11: Thanksgiving Day
- November 11: Remembrance Day
- December 25: Christmas Day
- December 26: Boxing Day
Unplanned Closures Are Also Possible; Check With Local Postal Outlets
In addition to these scheduled holidays, postal outlets may close due to unforeseen circumstances which might affect local services. Extreme weather conditions or natural disasters could prevent normal day-to-day services from being carried out at certain local postal outlets. How Long Will It Take For That Letter to Arrive? Service Standards For Lettermail
Service standards for lettermail give transit times and indicate when letters should arrive at their destinations under normal conditions. In addition to displaying regular hours of operation and holiday closures, local postal outlets also display times for mail collection. If a drop off is made after the collection time, mail is deemed to have been dropped off the following business day.
